Natural furniture polish

September 24, 2013

Many commercial furniture polishes contain toxic chemicals that can threaten the indoor air quality, as well as the environment.  This low level air pollution puts a strain on the central nervous systems of everyone living in your home.  The petroleum chemicals, silicone and solvents in commercial furniture polish are highly neuro-toxic.

Silicone

Silicone is put in furniture polish to make application easy and buffing off easy but if you ever need to have the piece of furniture you are polishing repaired or refinished it creates all sorts of problems for the repairer as they are unable to remove the silicone residue.  Long term us of silicone polishes on furniture can cause the lacquer on the surface to crack, split and break down.

Petro-chemicals

These are most commonly found in aerosol furniture polishes and oils, and they can create toxic fumes, skin irritations and give poor results.

But you can still have the healthy, scented and clean glow on your furniture without the chemicals by using Bermagui Oil with Beeswax – the natural furniture polish.  The oils in Bermagui Oil are important additions to your all-natural furniture polish as they help prevent cracks by adding the moisture needed to ensure your wood does not dry out.
